Property owners selling their Lake Placid homes in New York are now required to have their septic systems inspected before closing the sale, the Lake Placid News reported. The North Elba Town Council in August added the inspection requirement to its septic law.
In addition to the new property-transfer septic inspections, routine inspections also are required: every three years for year-round properties and every five years for seasonal properties. Inspections must be conducted by licensed professionals.During the winter months or other times when septic inspections can’t be conducted at the time of a sale, buyers and sellers must sign a septic
