Distribution Contractors Association has dedicated a new Be Safe auxiliary microsite (www.dcabesafe.com) to foster risk awareness and mitigation within the construction industry.

The site gives construction industry professionals a user-friendly, single point of access to guidelines and procedures that reduce the potential for damage, injury or loss while performing specific workplace tasks.

The Be Safe site is subdivided into sections: videos, updates, resources, training, safety recognition, and events. Each section emphasizes the need to prioritize safety above all to help ensure everyone goes home safely each and every day. They include guidance and best practices from manufacturers, training programs and agencies throughout the underground and construction industries.  

Be Safe is the fifth microsite the DCA has launched to achieve its overall goal of making education, training and recruitment tools easily accessible throughout the underground industry. 

DCA officially launched its workforce development worksite Let’s Get to Work (www.dcaletsgettowork.com) in October 2020, the result of a partnership between DCA and Mike Rowe. 

Two more microsites were launched in 2021 — Trenchless and OQIP. Trenchless (www.dcatrenchless.com) is dedicated to minimally invasive pipe installation, maintenance, and repair techniques. OQIP (www.oqip.org) is an industry coalition created to develop a process framework to elevate the integrity of operator qualification and relies on many provisions found within ASME B31Q. Voluntary actions overseen by OQIP will increase consistency and standardization by "raising the bar" above and beyond current regulations and serve as a guide for continuous improvement for the operator and contractor. 

A DCA Government Relations (www.dcagovrelations.com) microsite went live in 2022. Its objectives are to educate members on regulatory and legislative issues the industry is currently facing and to explain the actions it believes its members should take at state and national levels.
