Bacteria/Chemicals – Grease

Century Chemical Bio-Snake Blocks

Century Chemical’s Bio-Snake Blocks are designed to ensure proper functioning conditions for a customer’s grease trap. Adding a block to the bottom of a grease trap will cause an immediate reduction in grease buildup and a 96% reduction in odor, according to the maker. The block continues to release new bacteria over a long time period and reduces effluent BOD levels by up to 80%. A time-release formula lasts up to 30 days. 800-348-3505; www.centurychemical.com

DRAINBO drain and grease trap treatment

DRAINBO drain and grease trap treatment uses a seven-strain bacillus formula, along with derivatives of corn, coconut and citrus, to digest buildup and FOG in the complete system. When added into the drainline leading to the trap or interceptor, it will digest the buildup in the lines, eliminating backups and slow drains. Once it reaches the trap/interceptor, it breaks down and digests FOG and other proteins in the trap to ensure peak performance. Regular treatments will reduce and eliminate line and trap deposits, control odor and reduce overall maintenance/pumping time, according to the maker. It is noncorrosive and safe to use in any environment. 877-372-4626; www.drainbo.com

Drylet BioReact

BioReact from Drylet is a dry-to-the-touch powder formulated to remediate fats, oils and grease in any system through microbial activity. It delivers millions of inorganic particles embedded with billions of microbes directly to the FOG layer. Because they’re protected in the engineered porous particles, the bacteria reproduce at accelerated rates. They consume and degrade solids and foam, breaking down and liquefying sludge while reducing gas and odor. It is easy to apply and requires no pre-mixing. The product can be successfully used to keep grease traps and drains unclogged in restaurants and coffee shops just as effectively as it can be applied to a municipal or industrial wastewater treatment facility collection system and grease trap, according to the maker. It contains no chemical ingredients and no genetically modified organisms. It is nontoxic and safe for the environment. 346-980-9570; www.drylet.com

Grease Treatment

BioMicrobics LIXOR

LIXOR from BioMicrobics is a nonclogging, venturi-type aeration device that supplies air in a variety of wastewater applications. Equipped with an above-ground, regenerative blower — the system’s only moving part — a continuous large volume of air is piped down to submerged devices. The velocity of air and water increase substantially inside the venturi chamber, creating a vacuum that pulls in surrounding liquid and breaks the incoming air stream into smaller size bubbles. The result is a turbulent plume of water and bubbles that travel up through the water, transferring oxygen for biological activity and creating horizontal and vertical mixing patterns. Each submerged aeration system is designed to achieve reliable aeration and mixing performance efficiencies. Individual or multiple units may be used in many ways to help achieve desired treatment goals. 800-753-3278; www.biomicrobics.com
