Rather than sell off an over-the-road semi truck with 1.25 million miles, owner Mat Schenk decided to convert the 1995 Kenworth T-600 workhorse into a septic service truck. The truck is powered by a 425 hp Caterpillar engine and 10-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Schenk replaced the sleeper cab with an aluminum panel he fabricated, then hired Kennedy Tank of Indianapolis to roll the steel tank and dish heads, which were welded at TSF. The 3,500-gallon tank with rear and topside 24-inch manways and rear sight glasses is matched to an H400W Masport pump. The inside of the tank and outside at the base of the tank and on the hose trays is painted with Sherwin-Williams Macropoxy 646 epoxy. TSF painted the truck and added lettering and graphics from Signs Now. Added features are a 150-gallon stainless steel freshwater tank for washdowns, rear work lights for nighttime service and a passenger-side tool tray. The retrofit didn’t require any changes to the truck frame. Schenk is usually behind the wheel of the truck for residential and commercial septic service.
