Super Twin Ultra from PolyPortables Inc.

Hand-wash Station Promotes Better Sanitation

Increased paper towel capacity and more elbowroom at the sinks are among the conveniences offered by the Super Twin Ultra hand-wash station from PolyPortables Inc.

Made of rotationally molded polyethylene, the 120-pound unit is the next-generation version of the Super Twin, a fixture in the PolyPortables lineup of hand-wash stations, says Graham Edwards, northeast division manager for the company.

“We took all the feedback we’ve received over the years of producing the Super Twin and incorporated it into the Ultra,” Edwards notes.

Measuring 30 inches by 35 inches and 47 inches high (34 inches high at the sink), the Ultra offers four locked paper towel dispensers, a step up from the single dispenser on the Super Twin.

“Operators told us the previous unit had plenty of water capacity, but not enough paper towel capacity,” observes Edwards. “And the locked dispensers make it less likely that people will walk off with handfuls of towels.”

The Ultra also offers users at high-traffic special events or large construction sites more room to wash their hands, thanks to a new configuration for the unit’s molded-in, maintenance-free spigots.

“Before, the spigots were side by side, so people would be elbow-to-elbow at a shared basin,” Edwards explains. “With the new design, two people can easily use the unit at the same time because they face each other, rather than stand next to each other.”

The Ultra is also more durable, thanks to a heavy-duty plastic skid plate on the bottom of the unit.

“If you’re dragging the unit around, the skid plate absorbs all the punishment,” Edwards points out. “You’ll wear out the skid plate before you ever touch the bottom of the unit.”

The Ultra is easy to move, courtesy of four molded-in hand-holds. And in case of an emergency where the unit must be moved quickly, gravity drains allow operators to quickly empty the tanks without pumping. That’s significant because the unit could weigh up to 500 pounds fully loaded, Edwards notes.

Like its predecessor, the Ultra features two patented, high-capacity spray soap dispensers, and 45-gallon freshwater and graywater tanks. Instead of bladders, the tanks are hard-sided, which prevents punctures that could result in mixing gray and freshwater. A foot pump disperses a maximum of 1.8 gallons of water a minute, says Edwards.
