It's Education Day at the Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo International and I'm getting the opportunity to hear from septic service contractors who made the trip to Indy.

I just caught up with Tim Kettler, of Action Septic Service, Warsaw, Ohio, who has attended about a dozen Expos since 1986. His top priority today is completing training to remain in compliance with his National Association of Wastewater Technicians continuing education requirements. "A lot of the new technology is information that I don't have yet. We get a lot of access to new technology,'' he said. "There are a lot of opportunities for continuing education and it's great that it's all assembled in the same place.''

Kettler said that his state has cut back on certification opportunities through local and regional health departments, so he values getting a lot of the necessary training in one day in Indianapolis. He gave a tip for other Education Day attendees to pick and choose the seminars that will help their businesses the most at future Expos. "I worked with the information online. I did my homework first,'' he said. "And then I had the opportunity to come prepared and it facilitates your time management.''
