Septic Service Worker Killed While Changing a Tire

Fosdick was a member of the National Guard, leaves behind a wife and two children

A worker for Massachusetts septic service company All-Town Inc. was killed Oct. 19 when a work truck tire exploded and debris struck him in the head, according to news accounts. Brian J. Fosdick, 39, of Marshfield, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene after the mishap was discovered at about 9 a.m.

The Patriot-Ledger newspaper quoted Marshfield Fire Chief Kevin Robinson saying that Fosdick was performing “some kind of tire-changing operation’’ when the accident occurred. According to news accounts, Fosdick was a member of the Army National Guard’s 772nd Military Police unit and is survived by his wife, Lisa Williams, and two children.

While the incident remains under investigation, early accounts point to this as a tragic fluke accident. The tragedy for Fosdick’s family and the pumping company reminds us of the dangers associated with maintaining industrial equipment and how critical it is to stress safety every day.
