Jackass 3D movie to be released next week; PolyJohn PJN3 used in bungee stunt

If you take a look at the trailer for the new movie, Jackass 3D, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKwjU_pSSW4) you’ll see lunatic stuntman Johnny Knoxville launch a PolyJohn PJN3 portable restroom skyward using bungee cords. A series of Jackass movies include a constant barrage of wild stunts and pranks accompanied by legal disclaimers warning viewers not to try and recreate them.

About three months ago, Jackass producers called Gregg deLong, western area manager for PolyJohn Enterprises Corp., asking to buy a standard restroom unit. The same folks had bought restrooms twice before to use in stunts.

“As long as it’s not distasteful and it doesn’t hurt anybody’s feelings, hey, buy whatever you want,’’ deLong said of selling the unit to the movie producers. “Those guys really are jackasses – some of the stuff they do, they’re just idiots.’’

The producers wouldn’t tell deLong exactly what they were going to do with the restroom, but said they were planning to reinforce the corners and asked him if he’d ever bungee-jumped. Something of a daredevil himself, and having jumped with a bungee several times in the past, deLong classified the stunt he saw on the clip as “good, clean fun.’’

The movie is set for an Oct. 15 release.
