A septic pumping company in Southport, Florida, recently made headlines after thieves stole the doors off of both of the company’s pumper trucks. The incident at A1 Septic has brought attention to a trend that the Bay County Sheriff’s Office says has also happened in another part of the state.

According to an article from WJHG News, an A1 Septic employee arrived at work in the morning to find the two trucks missing all their doors. The thief or thieves had apparently accessed the property through a back fence to get to the trucks, and A1 was left to deal with the costly consequences.

It appears that thieves are targeting these trucks and businesses because the doors can be sold for thousands of dollars if they know where to take them. A1 Septic estimates that it has cost them upwards of $40,000 to replace the doors on one truck alone. With the trucks sidelined, the company expects it could lose around $70,000 in profits.

As this potential trend unfolds, stories like these serve as a good reminder to secure your vehicles, park them in an area that’s not easily accessible and use the many surveillance camera options available on the market today.
