WTRF.com in Wheeling W.Va., published a series of photos of a vacuum truck rollover accident Monday near Sardis, Ohio, on the Ohio-West Virginia border. According to the news account, the truck, owned by Ron’s Porta Jons Septic Tank Cleaning, Marietta, Ohio, rolled off a state highway as it pulled toward the edge of the road to steer clear of an oncoming tractor-trailer rig on a curve. The driver, who sustained minor injuries, told officials the road edge gave way.

This is the second septic truck rollover crash reported over the past week. I posted on an Alaska rollover July 17. To see the photos of the Ohio crash, go here:

Truck Driver Walks Away From Crash in Monroe County

This crash offers a good safety reminder that drivers can never be sure about the condition of a roadway and must always be on the lookout for crumbling pavement, washouts, eroded gravel beds and the like, and use caution at all times. This crash may have been unavoidable, and we wish the driver a swift recovery. The good news is it appears nobody was seriously hurt.

Because we can never be reminded too often, I’ll post the link again to a story about a valuable safety training video on the subject of driving with liquid loads, produced by the National Tank Truck Carriers and the American Trucking Association, in cooperation with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Let’s Be Careful Out There
