The exhibit hall for the 33rd Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo International opened Tuesday, with crowds of wastewater services contractors flooding in as the doors opened at 9 a.m.

They were greeted by many shiny new trucks and the best equipment and accessories avaiable to environmental services companies. Attendees from across North America combed through the exhibits, looking for a piece of equipment or a new technology to give them an edge over the competition back home. They weren't disappointed.

"I like to see all the different and new products for the market and meet new people,'' said Dave McGregor, of Northern Disposal and Sanitation, Katrine, Ont., Canada. While he didn't have anything specific on his shopping list, McGregor said he was checking out inspection cameras to be able to expand his service menu.

"You might find something you need for your business, the possibility is always there,'' said Kris Noble, of John Noble Septic Service, Creemore, Ont., Canada. "'I'm always in the market for a truck. I can see all the different designs and options at the show and go home and figure out how I want to build it.''

McGregor and Noble met at the Expo several years ago, and the Canadian portable sanitation contractors have been friends and Expo companions ever since. More on the Expo excitement later.
