Roll-off trailer company BENLEE has acquired the assets of Huge Haul in an all-cash transaction. “It was a perfect fit for us,” said Greg Brown, President and CEO of BENLEE. “BENLEE is the industry leader in roll-off trailers and Huge Haul is the industry leader in lugger trucks and lugger trailers.”

Huge Haul lugger trucks have a rich history. They were designed by Brooks Equipment in the 1930s and became part of the Ingersoll division of BorgWarner until 1960, when Heil purchased the load lugger division. In 1991, Huge Haul purchased the division from Heil. 

“Lugger trucks have been used in scrap yards for the scrap metal and recycling industries for decades. We currently run Huge Haul lugger trucks at our North Carolina wholly owned Raleigh Metal Recycling and Goldsboro Metal Recycling operations. Based on our experience, we understood the applications and the needs,” said Brown. The lugger hoist manufacturing will be moved to Romulus, Michigan, and built along with other BENLEE roll-off trailers and trucks. BENLEE’s online parts store, at www.benlee.com, will soon have a load lugger truck and trailer parts department, so lugger body parts can be purchased 24/7 over the web.

“BENLEE’s high-serve business model of selling and supporting direct from the manufacturer instead of distributors keeps costs down and service levels high, especially with the incredibly low maintenance needs of our products. One of our first customers is Premier Truck Sales & Rental, which will be the exclusive place to rent BENLEE lugger trucks by the day, week, month or year,” Brown added. Premier’s first unit will be on display at the annual ISRI (Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries), meeting April 2-7 in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

“We will be doing with Huge Haul what we did when we acquired BENLEE and later DUNRIGHT roll-off trailers. We took great names with great products and improved on the basic designs, increased the support and expanded the product line, all with the focus on safety, durability, uptime and value,” concluded Brown.
