Bakers Waste Equipment Inc. (BWE) has moved into an upgraded, larger manufacturing and office complex to accommodate its successful and growing recycling and solid waste equipment business.

Citing “years of hard work and growth,” BWE Director of Sales and Marketing Chris Burns announced that the company began operating from its new space in mid-January 2014. The move consolidates BWE’s container and compactor fabrication operations, as well as its office functions, all in one location.

“Our company required more capacity with a desire to have all of our operations and offices under one roof,” says Burns. “Our new Lenoir location will house our corporate offices, all manufacturing divisions, service departments and BWE Transport. BWE is very excited about this new chapter and is thankful for the opportunity to grow and become an even larger supplier to the waste and recycling industry.”

A considerable amount of effort went into selecting the proper site for BWE’s new headquarters and plant. An exhaustive search was made to find a facility large enough to house BWE’s three existing plants, plus allow for future growth. That search resulted in finding and up-fitting an existing Broyhill Furniture plant in Lenoir, N.C., that had excessive capacity and yard space to accommodate all of BWE’s current and future needs.

BWE has designed and created the optimum work flow environment in its new facility. All departments will be equipped with safe, ergonomic and productive work stations. Material and product flow in the plant will provide many efficiencies and new capabilities for BWE resulting in more volume and better quality.

The new plant also will allow customers to benefit from quicker order fulfillment. “Inventory levels will be larger for quicker deliveries due to the extra capacities and external yard space,” says Burns. “BWE Transport will also be located at the Lenoir plant, rushing product to market and providing the same exceptional customer service it has been known for.”

A new location does not mean a change in BWE’s company philosophy. The company remains committed to its core values of:

  • Safety first and foremost
  • Top-quality products at a market competitive price
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Strive for the most efficient productivity

BWE was founded by Carson Baker in 1981 and was purchased by current owner and President Ric Raines in 2001. The company currently employs more than 100 people who produce some 20,000 waste and recycling containers/compactors each year.

“The company’s growth during its 33-year history would not have been possible without its loyal customers, vendors and associates,” says Burns. “We owe a big thank you to all of our valuable customers, dependable vendors and our loyal employees. Thank you all for helping BWE prosper into the company it is today. Bakers Waste Equipment Inc. will continue to forecast growth and invest in the future.”
