A pumper in Alaska has admitted to illegally disposing of septage waste, and ran into more trouble when the investigation led to his marijuana growing operation. According to the Anchorage Daily News, Kenneth Champ pleaded guilty in August to a felony environmental crime and another felony charge of theft.
The charges stemmed from a neighbor’s complaint of human waste in a stream that flowed through his property in September 2011. The owner of Champ Septic allegedly threatened State Troopers when they came to his property to investigate. The 1,700 pot plants were discovered in December during the course of the investigation.
Champ was sentenced earlier to 28 months in prison in federal court for the marijuana growing operation. The theft and pollution convictions resulted in another 305 days in jail and a $10,000 fine.
