How often does proper septic system maintenance turn up as a topic in a syndicated newspaper advice column? Not often, I would guess. And not often enough, I would add, based on stories I hear about homeowner abuse of septic systems.
So when “Barbara in Iowa’’ wrote to the Hints From Heloise column this week to ask about putting antibacterial cleaners down her drains, it’s an auspicious event and one worth blogging about.
