Are Portable Restrooms Football's Next Tackling Dummy?

NFL team employs a portable restroom to help running backs sharpen their catching skills

File this one under “new uses for portable restrooms.’’ How do you think the Kansas City Chiefs are using a red PolyPortables Integra restroom to make their receiving corps more sure-handed? No, the coaches aren’t dotting the practice field with restrooms and having players try to avoid them in a life-size version of bumper pool.

Yahoo Sports blogger Doug Farrar on Sunday picked up on a story from the Chiefs training camp earlier this year in which running backs coach Maurice Carthon demonstrated how the team throws to players sitting inside the restroom who don’t know exactly when the ball is coming. Check out the blog and video from NFL.com:

The logic of the drill is that running backs have to turn their bodies in traffic and seldom have much time to prepare for a pass coming their way. By opening the restroom door at the last second and throwing them the ball, receivers can hone their reaction skills, according to coaches.

Could this open up a whole new market for restroom contractors to rent or sell units to colleges and high schools in every town? Show this video to your local coach and see what happens.
