Last Call For the Waste Treatment Symposium

The NAWT event highlighting septage disposal options is set for Sept. 15-16

The 5th annual National Association of Wastewater Transporters Waste Treatment Symposium will be held Sept. 15-16 in Washington, Pa., and nearby Wheeling, W. Va. Septic service contractors have until Saturday, Sept. 11 to register for the event.

The NAWT event is designed to help contractors explore new options to dispose of liquid waste, including septage and grease trap sludge. On Sept. 15, classroom sessions will cover administrative, economic and technical issues involved in creating a disposal plant. Speakers will include contractors who have already set up their own disposal operations. The sessions will be held at the home farm of pumper Dave Hapchuk in Washington, Pa.

On Sept. 16, attendees will visit Hapchuk’s plant, Liquid Assets Disposal, in Wheeling, W. Va. Vendors who sell a variety of treatment equipment will demonstrate the processes. Technical presentations will follow the demonstrations.

I’ve attended the Waste Treatment Symposium in the past and it provides an interesting opportunity to see several technologies at work in real-world situations. The event also gives contractors who are exploring disposal options a chance to visit with contractors who already operate plants.

Registration for the event is $275 for NAWT members and $375 for nonmembers. To register, go to www.nawt.org or call 800/236-6298.
