At the height of Cape Cod’s tourist season, a Provincetown hotel suffered multiple blocked kitchen and bathroom drains.

A national drain cleaning franchise told managers that stoppages required costly, time-consuming repairs: ripping up the parking lot and installing a two-way clean-out.

Worse, the franchise said, they’d need a week simply to start work.

That’s when Ryan Hazel arrived with his arsenal of drain cleaning solutions from General Pipe Cleaners.

“You can’t walk away from a customer when they need you the most,” Hazel says. “No responsible, competent drain cleaning expert ever would.”

Owner of Cape Cod-based Rooter Ryan, Hazel forged a reputation for prompt, professional drain cleaning services throughout the area. And managers quickly sought his “second opinion.”

“Anyone could see that my competitors’ proposed repairs would disastrously disrupt any customer-service business,” Hazel recalls. And waiting a week, “problems would have definitely gotten worse.

“I care about my customer — and their customers.”

Camera system quickly reveals exact problem

To assess the problem accurately, Hazel immediately grabbed his Gen-Eye POD video inspection system from General.

Always easy on back and budget, the convenient, compact Gen-Eye POD combines camera, reel and monitor in a handy, all-in-one package. Professionals just grab it and go.

The full-size model sports a self-leveling camera and 200 feet of Gel-Rod for troubleshooting 3- to 10-inch drainlines. And the Mini-POD version carries 125 feet or 175 feet of pushrod, with a mini self-leveling color camera for small 2- to 3-inch lines. Latest versions include Wi-Fi capability.

The generous 7-inch LCD color monitor mounts on a rugged, flexible gooseneck that swivels for optimal viewing angles. And the durable padded case protects both monitor and investment.

Hazel’s camera “revealed a major soft blockage” that “couldn’t be cleared with a conventional cable machine.”

Powerful water jet pulverizes the problem

That’s when he grabbed his powerful JM-3080 water jet from General Pipe Cleaners.

Part of General’s popular Jet-Set line of water jets, the brawny JM-3080 packs the punch and performance to slice through grease, sludge, sand and ice in large, long and difficult lines.

Its 8 gpm offers the highest water flow rate available without a trailer. And if water supply can’t match pump demand, a 12-gallon buffer tank protects the pump from damage.

Nozzle thrust drives the hose down the line and gives wall-to-wall pipe cleaning action. General’s water jets handle a wide range of commercial and residential jobs: hotels, restaurants, hospitals, septic systems, schools, sports arenas, malls and more.

True to his word

“As my slogan says, ‘We get ya flowin’, when no one else can get ya goin’!” Hazel says. “And that’s exactly what I did.”

In just 20 minutes, the JM-3080 soundly swept the stoppage away — no parking lot damage, no pricey repaving, and most important, no customer disruptions.

The hotel was understandably ecstatic. So is Ryan Hazel, over the reliability and performance of his General equipment.

“I built my business around General,” he says. “They’re great machines — at great prices.”
