Recently, the Town of Southington, Connecticut, decided to completely refurbish its 1998 Vac-Con unit rather than purchase a new catch basin cleaner. The unit was delivered to the Vac-Con facility in Green Cove Springs, Florida, to receive a “Gold Seal Refurb” package. The Gold Seal package provides a total rebuild, from front to back. The machine was totally disassembled, steam cleaned and checked for worn or damaged components. In addition to replacing or rebuilding every component, the machine was fitted with some updated components, such as the higher-capacity hydrostatic drive system for the vacuum compressor. Of course, the entire unit was completely refinished, including the cab, and even the cab interior was freshened.

In addition to the Gold Seal Refurb Package, Southington also received a new boom, inlet, debris tank, and retro-fit water pump.

For the Town of Southington, a complete overhaul turned into more than just a like-new machine; it also turned into one that performs like the newest machines.

Check out this time-lapse video of the process.
