Amthor International in Gretna, Virginia, is partnering with Alkane Truck Company, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to offer an alternative energy cab over chassis to the truck tank industry. Amthor International is a worldwide manufacturer of truck-mounted tanks serving the refined fuel, propane, mining, vacuum and septic, portable restroom, water, well drilling and construction industries. Alkane Truck Company specializes in medium-duty trucks, medium-heavy trucks and heavy-duty tractors, which run on liquid propane autogas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid natural gas (LNG).

“Amthor International is delighted to partner with Alkane Truck Company. Propane and natural gas is the future alternative fuel for any fleet of trucks,” explains Brian Amthor, Amthor International. “Even in periods of low fuel costs, as we are experiencing now, propane and natural gas trucks make sense as they are environmentally sound with tax incentives available in many parts of the country.”

Natural gas is the United State’s most abundant supply of clean energy that is significantly less expensive than Middle Eastern oil. The International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles estimates that there will be more than 65 million natural gas vehicles worldwide within the next 10 years, or about 9 percent of the world transportation fleets.

“We are looking forward to working with Amthor International on this partnership,” says Steve Rayborn, VP of Global Sales, Alkane Truck Company. “The combination of our state-of-the-art technology and Amthor’s reach in offering tanks to a variety of industries provides a way to further market alternative energy fleets worldwide. Alternative energy powered trucks, costing less to operate and the same or less than a gasoline or diesel powered truck to purchase, will help any transportation company improve their bottom line."
