Accessories + Get AlertsWelcome to the future of service vans. The new 2015 Ram ProMaster service van was revealed and it appears as if it’s been redesigned with style — and convenience — in mind. The small commercial van takes on a more out-of-this-world look with sleek wraparound headlights and leaves behind the boxier design of its predecessors. But is this new design a face only a mother could love?
According to an article on TheTruthAboutCars.com, the 2015 Ram ProMaster City is based on the Fiat Doblò design, and is the second van to emerge from Ram’s relationship with Fiat Professional.
“The unibody van can be had in either Wagon or Tradesman Cargo base trim with SLT trim as an upgrade to both bases, and boasts a total of eight configurations involving security panels and rear and side windows,” says the article.
A transmission with a final-drive ratio of 3.73:1 also promises to improve the van’s fuel economy. Rear doors open in a 60/40 split for easier loading and unloading. Other specs include a 1,883-pound payload capacity and six recessed tie-down clips to secure loads on the floor. A coil-link rear suspension also improves driving dynamics.
Pricing, fuel economy ratings or curb weight information has not been released. The compact commercial van hits dealerships in the first quarter of 2015.
