FMI Introduces Hybrid Restroom Service Truck

The Electra-Vac electric hybrid portable restroom service truck from FMI Truck Sales & Service features a 24-volt electric drive system that replaces the standard transmission PTO vacuum pump drive. Mounted on a 19,500-pound GVWR Isuzu NRR chassis, the unit is the latest addition to the WorkMate 1050 line, and offers 700-gallon waste/350-gallon freshwater capacity. Designed to provide vacuum without the truck engine running, initial testing, based on an average 40-stop service route, has shown fuel savings of between $4,500 and $6,000 per year. The self-contained, high-output charging system enables the PTO-drive batteries to recharge between stops, and does not require outside charging support. The high-torque, 24-volt drive motor turns a Masport HXL2 vacuum pump, building 20 inches of vacuum in less than 45 seconds. Emitting zero emissions while pumping, the unit also operates at a substantially reduced noise level. For more information: 800/927-8750; www.fmitrucks.com. Expo booth 2209.1
