Classy Truck for December

This month we feature a restored Peterbilt in Delaware.

This month we feature a restored Peterbilt in Delaware.

Owners Marvin “Bud’’ and Sharon Rickards spent eight months restoring this 1995 Peterbilt long hood 379 hauler from the ground up. Ample power comes from a rebuilt 425-hp 3406 Caterpillar engine bolted to a 15-speed Eaton-Fuller transmission. Lely Corp. installed a new 4,500-gallon aluminum tank utilizing an NVE 506-cfm Challenger vacuum pump. The workhorse truck is equipped with a drop axle to handle heavy loads. The rig was custom painted a deep red color by Mike Bouney of Delaware Truck Refinishers to contrast the aluminum tank and chrome accessories. Tasteful tank graphics were designed by Debbie Breneman at Rogers Signs. The interior is appointed with stereo, AC and classic gauges. The rig can transport four septic loads to the treatment plant, and carries 130 feet of hose to reach many septic tanks from the street.
