NAWT Details Second Annual Septage/Grease Trap Waste Treatment Symposium

A first-ever national event was a hit in 2006, so the second annual Septage/Grease Trap Waste Treatment Symposium is planned for September in Pennsylvania.

The directors of the National Association of Wastewater Transporters Inc. believe hundreds, if not thousands, of its members and industry participants would benefit by taking control of their own septage disposal. Success of the first Septage/ Grease Trap Waste Treatment Symposium in Mentor, Ohio, in 2006 confirmed this to be accurate. To continue this industry benefit, NAWT is sponsoring the second annual Septage/Grease Trap Waste Treatment Symposium over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 12-13, near Harrisburg, Pa.

The first day will be in a classroom setting with presentations of case histories explaining the administrative, technical, and economic details of how and why contractors choose their systems. Participants will gain the ability to create a business plan based on their own circumstances. Presentations will be given by industry professionals experienced with treatment issues to assure credibility. Equipment vendors will be given an opportunity to discuss the specifics of their technology. Participants will have ample opportunity to network at the social hour at the end of the day.

On the second day of the symposium, participants will be bused to a nearby septage treatment facility, Kline’s Services in Salunga, Pa. (just west of Lancaster, Pa). In addition to touring the Kline’s facility, participants will see vendors processing actual septage, grease trap waste and sewage sludge using a variety of equipment. A schedule will be prepared for facility tours and vendor presentations so participants get to see everything in an orderly fashion.

The event will be hosted by the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East, 4751 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, Pa. For accommodations, please contact the Holiday Inn directly at 717/939-7841. Mention the National Association of Wastewater Transporters Symposium to get our discounted rate. A hotel shuttle is available from the Harrisburg airport.

The registration fee includes full symposium privileges, including lunch both days and bus transportation to the Kline’s Services site. The social hour will have a cash bar. For specific details on the symposium, please contact the NAWT office at 800/236-6298. Your registration should be sent to the NAWT office listed on the registration form.
