The National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA), the National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT), the State Onsite Regulators Alliance (SORA) and the Virginia Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (VOWRA) are partnering to hold their respective annual conferences together in the same location. The Mega Conference will be held Nov. 3-6 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The event also features NAWT’s 7th Waste Treatment Symposium program.

The four organizations share numerous issues including national and local regulations and policies, research, design, installation, and maintenance of decentralized systems. The conference’s exposition hall provides an invaluable opportunity to network and view the current and emerging technologies in decentralized wastewater treatment.

The conference will be a premier event to convey new research, regulations and policy, experience, and practices in the decentralized onsite wastewater industry.

Attendees will be the winners with a great breadth of topics, vendors and educational tours!

2016 NAWT Hapchuk Scholarship

The 2016 NAWT Hapchuk Scholarship applications must be received or postmarked by Jan. 1, 2016, to be considered. The scholarship application has been posted, and additional details can be found on NAWT’s website at http://www.nawt.org/documents/ScholarshipApplication2016.pdf.

The 2016 Hapchuk Scholarship assignment is as follows:

Option one

In option one the assignment is to build a short story around the two photographs (found at the NAWT website). A homeowner is meeting with the septic professional to discuss why his system is not working properly as indicated by a floating manhole riser. The story should include why the system may have gotten that way and what will need to be done.
Information provided in the short story should be referenced to websites or articles where the information can be found. You can change or enhance the photos and be creative about how the story is told. It can be a written story (no more than 1,500 words).

Option two

Using these same two photographs, create a short video that could serve as a public service announcement that could relate to homeowners on how to avoid having this problem. A video, cartoon, etc., is acceptable. Be creative!

All applications for the scholarship must be completed by you, the applicant, and returned by postal service or email with the form to the NAWT office.
