This 2008 Peterbilt 340 from Transway Systems Inc. is the proud ride of Brian K. Russell, who uses it for septic and grease trap work. According to A-1 Septic Tank Cleaning owner Tamara L. Russell, the rig is nicknamed “Big Blue’’ for obvious reasons. The truck carries a 3,600-gallon Progress aluminum tank, with vacuum created by a Masport HXL 400 pump. The truck is carried down the road by a Paccar PX-8 powerplant tied to a 10-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Work features include a three-stage telescopic hoist, matching aluminum toolboxes, and a nifty “It’s Time’’ indicator float gauge that serves to inform the driver of capacity at any given time, but also reminds passing motorists that they might have a cleaning coming due. Handsome exterior accents include aluminum hose trays, diamond-plate aluminum hose guard on the tank and aluminum wheels. Vinyl graphics were done by Todd Schaffer at Custom Neon & Vinyl Graphics. For driver comfort, the truck has air-ride driver’s seat and AM-FM/weatherband radio.
