This large-load 1998 Freightliner FLD 112 carrier with 4,000-gallon steel tank gives a big boost in efficiency to owner Steve Lojovich, enabling him to empty three tanks before making a disposal run.
Lojovich purchased the cab and chassis from Farwest Equipment in Mount Vernon, Wash., in 2005 and drove it back to Minnesota for conversion. Peterson Blacksmith shortened and doubled the frame, moved the stack and added a pusher axle. Engle Fabrication Inc., Sauk Centre, Minn., built the tank, placed it on the truck and made hose trays, rear lime slurry vats and intake, installed heated 4-inch intake and 6-inch heated air-activated brass valves. The hose trays and truck and tank underside are sprayed with chip guard. Graphics were designed by Lisa Lojovich and executed by Froggy’s Signs and Graphics. The truck is powered by a 370-hp Cummins M11 and a 10-speed Eaton-Fuller transmission with differential lock. The tank has a 36-inch manway and a Masport HXL 400 WV liquid-cooled pump so Lojovich can pump 200 feet to stay off lawns. The truck has aluminum side boxes for hauling lime and tools and a large aluminum box behind the cab with an electrical winch hoist for use with a General Pipe Cleaners sewer rooter and pressure washer.
