McDermott Honored for 50 Years of Service
Tom McDermott Sr., chairman of A.I. McDermott Co. Inc., was recognized for 50 years of leadership and service to the water system industry during the company’s 63rd annual dealer meeting at its Oshkosh, Wis., headquarters. During his tenure, the company has expanded from one location in Oshkosh to four full service locations, including branches in Wausau, Green Bay, and Muskego, Wis. The meeting included more than 30 manufacturer exhibits as well as morning and afternoon training sessions.
Amthor Named to Magazine’s List of Fantastic 50 Companies
Amthor International has been named to the Fantastic 50 list of companies by Virginia Business magazine and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. The award is a statewide competition that recognizes Virginia’s fastest-growing companies, based on a four-year growth rate. Companies also had to achieve a profit in their most recent fiscal year. Amthor, a manufacturer and distributor of tanks for trucks, employs approximately 80 workers and runs two shifts at its Gretna, Va., facility.
Hannay Reels Marks 75th Anniversary
Founded by Clifford Hannay in 1933, Hannay Reels marks its 75th anniversary this year. From its first manual-crank reel to the production of about 3,600 reels a year from a new manufacturing facility in 1952, Hannay continues to grow. Today the company, located in Westerlo, N.Y., ships more than 70,000 reels worldwide from its headquarters that was recently expanded to 44,000 square feet, allowing for larger fabrication, assembly and shipping departments.
Peat Joins Premier Tech Environment
Raymond L. Peat has been named commercial and community market development director for the Environmental Technologies Group at Premier Tech Environment. Peat served as president of the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association from 2004 to 2006 and has a degree in chemistry from Emporia State University in Kansas.
Wastequip Launches Companywide Reorganization
Wastequip Inc. has launched a companywide reorganization designed to make it more efficient and an environmental leader in the waste industry. “Our focus going forward will be to improve customer service and reduce costs through practices involving reduced energy consumption, CO2 emissions and increased recycling,” Bob Rasmussen, president and CEO, said. The company already has saved more than $250,000 in energy costs and reduced CO2 by 600 tons through the installation of energy-efficient lighting and HVAC controls at its Winamac, Ind., facility. The Cleveland-based company also has restructured it Steel Group into a newly formed Container Division and created a Technical Products Division for its hoists and compactors. Driven by a focus on LEAN Six Sigma programs, plant managers are being trained in LEAN practices, while several older and less efficient facilities are being closed.
