Classy Truck of the Month

Owner Steve Biggs put this heavy-duty rig together late in 2007 to load up car wash pit and residential septic system waste all day long before making a run to the disposal site.

He bought the 2003 Peterbilt 385 with a 500-hp Cat C-15 engine and 10-speed Eaton-Fuller transmission from Donaldson Equipment in Phoenix and drove it back to Utah. The dealer removed the sleeper from the over-the-road semi. FRB Welding in Salt Lake City added a 3-foot frame extension kit and built and bolted on the 4,000-gallon steel tank (3,500 gallons waste/500 gallons fresh) after having it painted white. The truck is equipped with a Robuschi RBS-DV65 blower pulling 900 cfm. There are three, 3-inch fill ports around the tank and a 4-inch fill/dump port in the bottom of a 36-inch rear manway. The freshwater tank in the front feeds a remote-controlled 10 gpm/3,000 psi water pump with an anti-freeze system from General Pump. The hose is fitted with quick-disconnect for swapping washdown nozzles or the hand cart hose reel with 200 feet of jetting hose. Lettering and logos were added by Jeff Dastrup Pinstriping. The truck has air-ride driver’s seat, Jake Brake, CD stereo and air conditioning.
