The custom vertical doors and bold purple and yellow paint scheme on Bruce Hall’s 2009 Ford F-750 service vehicle draw a lot of second glances from customers who hire him to pump their residential septic tanks. The new truck, built by Abernethy Welding, features a steel 1,800-gallon waste/ 200-gallon freshwater tank coupled with a Robuschi RBS-DV65 blower that pulls 900 cfm, and a 3,000-psi jetter. It’s powered by a 325-hp Cummins diesel engine matched with a 6-speed Allison transmission. The truck features a 75-degree hoist and vibrator, three 4-inch intake valves located around the tank and a 6-inch dump valve at the bottom of a 36-inch rear manway, and heated collars. The extended cab gives Hall a place to keep extra risers and lids. The truck has aluminum toolboxes and hose trays with spray-on protector and aluminum wheels. Purple under-body lighting accents the East Carolina University colors used on the truck. Lettering and logos were done by Wayne Jarrett. Interior features include tilt-steering, GPS, sunroof, CD stereo, AC, and power windows and locks. Hill mail-ordered a vertical door kit and he and auto body tech Marty Wilson modified the fenders and installed the kit.
