If you talk to pumper Jay Brendel, of Brendel's Septic Tank Service, you’ll learn there’s no shortage of business in the Detroit, Michigan, area this summer. Brendel reports his crews are pumping more than 100,000 gallons every two weeks, most of it residential septage.

In a recent Pumper Podcast interview with David Steinkraus, Brendel reports he has portable restrooms out that haven’t left the yard in five years. His restroom and shower trailers are rented regularly as well, and he’s pumping nights and weekends himself to help keep up with the demand.

“It’s been an exceptionally great year. We are very busy,’’ he says. He says housing is up, commercial construction is up and roadwork is creating lots of demand for restrooms.

Also in the podcast you’ll learn more about how Brendel is marketing his business to construction customers and how he keeps his employees happy and working hard.

Brendel does a great job of conveying tips to help pumpers bring in the business and provide great customer service. We look forward to visiting with him every year at the Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo.
