Weather was a likely factor in a vacuum truck crash near Milledgeville, Ga., on Tuesday afternoon, according to a report by local WGXA Fox 24 NewsCentral. The driver, who was not named, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. See a report on the crash here:

This crash prompts two safety reminders for pumpers hitting the roads this winter. First, keep an eye out for icy patches of roadway, and second, keep in mind that hauling a full load creates a top-heavy vehicle with unpredictable handling.

It’s important to reinforce safe driving practices when carrying full liquid loads. Check out this Cargo Tank Driver Rollover Prevention video at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website:

I highlighted this video in a safety story in Pumper magazine a few years ago, and the message remains important today. Have your drivers watch it, and let’s be careful out there!
