The San Bernardino Sun newspaper posted a series of photos today of a dramatic crash involving a vacuum truck, injuring the driver and demolishing his rig. Check it out here:

According to a news account, the truck went out of control when trying to exit on a freeway off-ramp, rolling over and crashing into a Subway sandwich shop and gas station in Phelan, Calif. According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck was going too fast, its brakes overheated and it rolled over down an embankment and into the building. The driver, who has not been identified, suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital. The accident remained under investigation.

The cab of the truck appeared horribly mangled and the truck looked like a total loss. This is another reminder about the importance of driving at safe speeds for conditions. Our thoughts go out the injured pumper.
